Good bye…my friend.

Note yet dried, our tears for Anik, yet again yesterday another C0F member passed away. I was planning to visit her in the hospital after got the news that Ade is hospitalized for pneumonia. But the news overhead me, she passed away on Friday while my plan was on Sunday.

Good bye Ade Trisna. May Allah put you in His most appropriate place. May Allah forgive all your faults and sins. May Allah give your family you left, patience to face this. May your kindness be paid in many fold better ways.

I recall you as a warm and cheerful person, smart yet helpful to others. There were many times we disturb you, not only you but your family. Not only during our hard time passing our first year in college, but even after some of us have graduated we kept disturbing you. As your home was always in our list of ‘base camp’. Thanks only would not be enough to repay our debt tou you. May only Allah pay our debt to you by things muuucchh better.

Now you’re gone, for good. Apparently, He loves you more than us. But need not to worry, we will always remember you. You will always be C0F member.

To Rifqi, May Allah give you all patience. I know you as a tough guy. I know you as a strong man. Be patience my friend. He loves her more than you love Ade, that’s why He called her sooner than we think. No one is to be blamed on this, not even you. So dont blame yourself for her death as it’s no one’s fault. I believe Allah will replace your loss with even much better blessings in near future. Amiin.

I can say no more, but :

Allahummaghfirlaha, warhamha, wa’aafihi wa’fuanha

God bye Ade Trisna Ariani!! Hope we can see each other again, in muuuuccchhh better place, in His heaven. Amin yaa rabbal ‘alamiin.

I did it!! Yatta!!!

Outbond has become more popular these days. Not just for fun but some say it can reveal one’s character or it can teach us how to build better teamwork. It’s fun but also dangerous at the same time. Dangerous if only we do not follow the safety guidance given by the instructor. My guide said, ‘It’s 99% safe, 1 % is destiny’.

And yesterday, after long time I waited to try this adventurous activity, finally I did it. Yes. Thanks to my office to make it happen. I thought it would be ordinary family trip. Chat and get to know each other, have lunch, or maybe one speech or two from the management. Sounds boring, but I think I better go rather than thinking about works almost every single day. Hey!! it’s day you know. what i call thinking about work everyday is once I have a chance to think about it, even if it’s only one minute for each day. But it happens everyday!! so I’m not lying!! :p

The trip was to Ancol Outbondholic. After more than 1 hour late to originally planned depart time, we departed from our office to Ancol at around 11. And we reached ancol around 12.

Harness

After all registered, we were advised to wear harness, it’s a safety belt wore usually by mountain climber. Not just that, but our harness were equipped with two carabiners for each, and also one pulley.

Carabiner is a closed hook, which we can hang on to something when we hook this carabiner onto. Many types of carabiner is there, but the one equiped in our harness was auto-lock ones. They were tied to our harness with mountain-climbing standard rope. It’s said that this rope alone can carry up to 8 ton weight!! And the harness itself can carry up to 2,5 ton weight. Carabiner

There’s one other tool tied in our harness, they call it pulley. It’s a hook also, but it has 2 roller. It’s used when we want to slide over the cable like when we do flying fox. This one is auto-lock as well.

Before trying the real outbond activity, we were trained how to use the tools for our own safety. Here are some which I remember.

  1. NEVER and NEVER unhook two carabiners at a time!! Unhook it one by one. Once unhook, hook it again in the red stripe on the cable.
  2. Red strip is for Carabiner, blue one is for pulley. Whenever you see these marks, always remember Red for Carabiner, Blue for Pulley.
  3. While flying foxing, put your right hand on top of the pulley and the other on its rope – which connects your harness with the pulley. It will avoid you to turn your body around while flying.
  4. Enjoy the game!!

In outbondholic – it’s the park name – there are 4 areas of outbound activities. Each contains a series of challenges. Green, Blue, Red, and Black. The latter the more difficult stunts in it. We tried the easiest one, i.e Green Area first. As it says, Green was easy, although I was nervous initially. But after finished it, I got challenged and wanted to try the others.

Next is blue one, unlike the green one which has only one flying fox stunt, in blue therer are two flying fox stunts, without any other stunt between. Sounds challenging, huh ?

Green complete, Blue finished, next is Red. The only difficult stunt in this area is the monkey bridge. The bridge was formed with circle boards tied together by a pair of cables. Stretched 6-7 meters above ground. The only guidance for us was a rope tied in the over head cable, along with two loops cable in which we hooked our carabiners. And things got more difficult as the bridge was a bit steep on the other edge. I had to put extra power just to have one step, but finally I made it and flying foxed to end the Red area.

Directly go for the black ?

No, I needed some air. I thought it was just light activities but strangely I sweat a lot after finishing red. Had rest for a while, drank some water, took some pictures and encouraging others. Some were giving up, mostly before finishing the monkey bridge of Red.

Ok, I’m ready for Black!! In black area, there are 6 stunts. First is wood ladder, second is spiderweb, then flying fox, cable bridge, monkey bridge, and again flying fox.

Fajar’s Wedding

I knew him in first week in college and we became close since then, not only because we went to the same department, but also because our homes were close. Since I was newcomer in Surabaya and he owned vehicle then you know lah what comes next…. He became my driver!! Hahahaha. Hey! we should grab every opportunity comes to us rite ? ;)

Eventually, we found something in common other than we were Informatics students. We both love watching movies!! and we both play badminton!! Yay! finally I had a sparring partner to play badminton with, eventhough we could play games couple of years before graduation.

Our friends nicked us as ‘Bapak dan Anak’. Fajar is tall, has a good shape body, and has father-like looking while I am short, cute and baby face (I’m telling the truth here). But dont be fooled!! Despite his looking, Fajar is a pacifier. He prefers to negotiate rather than knock the enemy down. He mostly hates gays or transgenders. Thank God, I’m neither. You want proof ? come here lah…. eits…. girls only yah!! :D

And on V-day of this year, he had his wedding, finally. After 2 yrs (?? bener gak Jar ?) relationship with Dian, they decided to close their ‘boy-girlfriend’ chapter and opened a new chapter of ‘Husband and Wife’. Congratulations!! I can only pray for both of you, ‘Barakallahu laka wa baraka alaika wa jamaa bainakuma fii khaiir’.

My body is not as tough as i tought

After working more than 12 hrs a day for two days in a row, I felt my body has reached its limit. on the third day, I felt so sleepy, so lazy and so weak to do anything, except going for lunch of course. :D

That day I decided to go home on time. 6 pm, or 7pm max. But the feeling, would not go away. once reaching my room, I tried to have some sleep. I thought I lacked of sleep hours, that’s all and hopefully nothing worse comes up.

Today, when I woke up in the morning, I still felt the stiffness in all of my body. I am just afraid of getting Dengue Fever, which is common during rainy season, hopefully not. Speaking of which, yesterday I got a bad news coing in. My friend’s child passed out because of Dengue Fever. Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi raji’un. It was still 10 month-old baby. Too young too die, but destiny cant be avoided. Hopefully, she and her husband are given a lot of patience to face this sadness.

I shouldn’t get any day off today, but with this condition I couldnt help my self except having another hour of sleep, and perhaps, If I feel strong enough in the afternoon I’ll go to the office. Completing some unfinished tasks. And joining my colleagues, playing airsoft gun in the early evening. Pray for me mates. and may Allah bless us all. Amiinn…

Is it luck, genius or destiny ?

How could an 18 year-old teenager win the grand prize of 20 Million rupees ? Was he cheating ? was he in his lucky day ? or did he get the aswers from the insider ?

When Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) only 1 question far from getting 20 Million rupees, he was suspected to cheat during the show, ‘Who Wants to be A Millionaire?’. Without his knowing, He was suddenly captured by the police when stepped out from the studio as the show to be continued tomorrow.

Slapping or even electrocution didn’t make him told how he cheated. He said he did no cheating. But how he knew all the answers when most scholars or participants only ended up at 60000 rupees question ? He just simply said, ‘The Answers. Because I know the answers’

Without any luck using the hard ways, the policemen then trying to persuade him. He was seated in front of the tv. His show was played. And from then on, we would come to know how he knew all the asnwers.

The first question was an easy one. “Who is the star of 1973 hit-film “Zanjeer”. How did he know the answer ? He knew the answer as he is a big fan of Big B, Amitabh Bhachan. Infamous movie star in India. He jumped into a pile of human fec*s just to meet and ask for Big B’s autograph when Big B was visiting his slum. And with the body fully covered in human fec*s, he came to Big B and asked for his autograph. But, unfortunately the photo was sold by his brother, Salim, for a few rupees, while he was bathed by his mother.

And the secrets of how he knew the answer were revealed one by one. How he knew about the man in one hundred US dollar bill, or how he knew a poet of famous poem. He had to tell his whole life, and which occasion he came to know the aswer of each question.

The story line of this film is brilliant and is adapted from a novel “Q&A” by Vikas Swarup. We, at least I, would never expect an ordinary and almost uneducated teenager could win the biggest prize of famous tv show when others could not even get half of the prize. Is it luck or destiny ?

Golden Globe juries chose this film as a winner in this year Golden Globe Annual Awards, kept The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (CCBB), Frost/Nixon, The Reader and Revolutionary Road away from the trophy in Drama category. Though as per my opinion, CCBB and Frost/Nixon have no less quality then Slumdog. As the other two, I dont know how good are they, havent watched them yet.

Finally, I dare to give this film 4 stars out of five. And I’m sure you’ll have no regrets watching this movie when it is played in the theaters near you.
